Reasonable Adjustments

What are Reasonable Adjustments?

Employers are under a duty to make reasonable adjustments for employees who have a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010).

This duty only applies where the disabled person is put at a substantial disadvantage in relation to a relevant matter when compared to a person who does not have that same disability.

The law sets out 3 requirements which must apply before the duty arises. If an employer fails to make a reasonable adjustment, the individual can take a claim against them in the Employment Tribunal.
