What is a Subject Access Request?
The right to make a subject access request is set out in the UK GDPR regime.
Article 15 states that a date subject (an individual) has the right to obtain confirmation from a data controller (in the area of employment law, this is usually the employer) as to whether personal data about them is being processed, where it is and access to that personal data as well as certain other information. This is commonly referred to as a Right of Access. Any request for this information need to be carefully and precisely drafted. If you are responding to a request you should be mindful of time limits and your obligations.
