What is Bullying?
There is no stand-alone definition of bullying in employment legislation but it is generally accepted that unwanted behaviour from a person or a group of people at work which makes you feel frightened, intimidated, put down, a butt of their jokes or upset will be bullying.
Being bullied at work can have serious repercussions and can lead to a person pursuing a claim of constructive dismissal. In serious cases it can lead to a personal injury claim.
If the bullying is for reasons related to a protected characteristic (age, disability, sex, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment) it can amount to discrimination.
