Settlement Agreements – how much time should an individual be given to consider the offer ?

There are no hard and fast rules about how long an employee should be given to consider an offer made to them under the terms of a Settlement Agreement. However, ACAS who are an independent public body funded by the government, produce helpful guidance on various employment related issues including Settlement Agreements. This guidance is not set down in law but is often referred to in Employment Tribunal cases as good practice.

Update to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme in the light of school closures

HMRC have updated is guidance to confirm that an employer can use the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme for employees who have caring responsibilities as a result of COVID-19. This includes employees who are now unable to work (including from home) because of school closures.
