I qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and have many years’ experience in employment law, gained principally in private practice and in employer organisations.
I joined Kilgannon & Partners LLP in December 2021, following its acquisition of specialist employment law firm, Springhouse Solicitors where I worked for eight years.
My passion to specialise in employment law started whilst working as a junior solicitor in corporate law when asked to advise established clients on business sales and a tribunal hearing.
I work for employees in the public and private sectors and for SME employers and owner managed businesses. I use my technical skills and experience to secure the best outcomes for my clients in disciplinary and grievance matters, and settlement agreements.
I also assist employers by providing professional advice and practical guidance in relation to employment contracts, redundancies, changing terms and conditions and day-to-day HR matters. I provide practical advice to employees about their employment rights including reasonable adjustments for disabilities, flexible working, family rights and how to enforce them.
Tribunal proceedings are very much a last resort. When appropriate, I use my 15+ years’ experience of managing tribunal cases to deliver results for my clients by taking a proactive approach and using principled negotiation.
From the outset, and during the course of a matter, I explain to my clients in clear language their legal position and my recommendations for next steps to enable them to make informed decisions about a practical solution, with my focus always on their best interests.
